Sixers discuss their goals for important 3-game road trip out West
PHILADELPHIA -- As the Philadelphia 76ers get ready to take on the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday, they will need all hands on deck to begin this 3-game road trip out West. It's never easy to hop on the plane and head to the other side of the country so the Sixers will have to tighten the sneakers and get ready for the challenges ahead.
The Sixers will need the likes of Justin Edwards, Jabari Walker, Dominick Barlow, and others to help Quentin Grimes and VJ Edgecombe to keep them afloat. This trip offers up a terrific opportunity for the lesser players to give this team a boost against some tough opponents such as Nikola Jokic in Denver and even Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan in Sacramento.
"It goes back into we talked about earlier, about the Justin's, the Jabari’s, the Barlow’s, the guys that are looking for these opportunities and minutes, it's here and opportunity’s here now, so it's time for them to really step up to the plate and seize the moment," said Andre Drummond. "I think we'll be fine despite the injuries we have. I think we have enough talent and enough guys to steal some wins on this road trip."
After facing the Nuggets, the Sixers will then face the Sacramento Kings and the Utah Jazz. This is a terrific opportunity for Philadelphia to stack some wins and get back in the race for the top 6 in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers are within striking distance of avoiding the play-in tournament, but they need to put together some wins on the floor.
"You just want to go over .500 when you go on road trips," added Quentin Grimes. "So we know we got a tough team in Denver, and then we have Utah and Sac. So, we feel like if we go out there and not look too far ahead on some teams up there that aren't playing well right now, but still have good players over there. Just take it one game at a time. I feel like we can have a pretty successful road trip, for sure."
Tip off from Ball Arena is set for 10 p.m. EDT on Tuesday.
