What is tramadol?
Tramadol may be a narcotic-like pain reliever.

Tramadol is employed to treat moderate to severe pain in adults.

The extended-release sort of tramadol is for around-the-clock treatment of pain. The extended-release sort of tramadol isn't to be used on an as-needed basis for pain.

Important Information
Seizures are reported in patients taking tramadol. Your risk of seizures is higher if you're taking higher doses of tramadol over what's recommended. Seizure risk is additionally higher in those with a seizure disorder or those taking certain antidepressants or opioid medications.

Tramadol shouldn't be used if you're suicidal or susceptible to addiction.

Tramadol shouldn't tend to a toddler younger than 12 years old. Ultram ER shouldn't tend to anyone younger than 18 years old.

Taking tramadol during pregnancy may cause life-threatening withdrawal symptoms within the newborn.

Fatal side effects can occur if you employ this medicine with alcohol, or with other drugs that cause drowsiness or slow your breathing.

Before taking this medicine
You should not take tramadol if you're allergic thereto , or if you have:

severe asthma or breathing problems;

a blockage in your stomach or intestines;

if you've got recently used alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers, or narcotic medications; or

if you've got used an MAO inhibitor within the past 14 days (such as isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylthionine chloride injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or tranylcypromine).

Do not give this medicine to anyone younger than 18 years old who recently had surgery to get rid of the tonsils or adenoids.

Avoid giving this medicine to children between 12 to 18 years aged who have conditions which will cause breathing problems.

Seizures have occurred in some people taking tramadol. Talk together with your doctor about your seizure risk, which can be higher if you've got ever had:

a head injury, epilepsy or other seizure disorder;

f you furthermore may use certain antidepressants, muscle relaxants, opioids, or other medications.

If you employ tramadol while you're pregnant, your baby could become hooked in to the drug. this will cause life-threatening withdrawal symptoms within the baby after it's born. Babies born hooked in to habit-forming medicine may have medical treatment for several weeks. Tell your doctor if you're pregnant or decide to become pregnant.

Do not breast-feed while taking tramadol. This medicine can pass into breast milk and cause drowsiness, breathing problems, or death during a nursing baby.

To make sure tramadol is safe for you, tell your doctor if you've got ever had:

breathing problems, sleep apnea;

liver or kidney disease;

urination problems;

problems together with your gallbladder, pancreas, or thyroid;

a stomach disorder; or

mental illness, or suicide attempt.

How should I take tramadol?
Take tramadol exactly as prescribed. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Tramadol can slow or stop your breathing, especially once you start using this medicine or whenever your dose is modified . Never take this medicine in larger amounts, or for extended than prescribed. Tell your doctor if the drugs seems to prevent working also in relieving your pain.
