What is tramadol?

Taking tramadol during pregnancy may cause life-threatening withdrawal symptoms within the newborn.

Fatal side effects can occur if you employ this medicine with alcohol, or with other drugs that cause drowsiness or slow your breathing.

Before taking this medicine
You should not take tramadol if you're allergic thereto , or if you have:

severe asthma or breathing problems;

a blockage in your stomach or intestines;

if you've got recently used alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers, or narcotic medications; or

if you've got used an MAO inhibitor within the past 14 days (such as isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylthionine chloride injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or tranylcypromine).

breathing problems, sleep apnea;

liver or kidney disease;

urination problems;

problems together with your gallbladder, pancreas, or thyroid;

a stomach disorder; or

mental illness, or suicide attempt.

How should I take tramadol?
Take tramadol exactly as prescribed. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Tramadol can slow or stop your breathing, especially once you start using this medicine or whenever your dose is modified . Never take this medicine in larger amounts, or for extended than prescribed. Tell your doctor if the drugs seems to prevent working also in relieving your pain.
